In a letter delivered today to Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal, the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute outlined likely negative consequences to the state from potential funding cuts to the federal Medicaid safety net.
Federal funding cuts threaten to destabilize the state’s Medicaid budget and force Georgia to deny coverage to eligible Georgians in critical need of health services, reduce access to covered benefits and constrain innovation.
Today’s letter to the governor is to help him provide a response by today’s deadline to a request last month by the U.S. Senate Finance Committee for all governors to assess the fiscal and human impact of emerging proposals to cap or block grant the federal Medicaid program in the future.
